Choppin'
« on: March 23, 2009, 01:05:58 pm »

This is my brother's bike. We raked it out a little for the 18"over springer. He dowelled the frame tubes, cut' em on an angle for more weld surface and fit new tubes to the downtubes & backbone. Not an easy project, but we tacked it all up & refit the front end on to see if it had the "look". Now it's time to rip her apart & do the final welds.

Here we are pullin' out the BDL

Next comes the motor. Some of you may remember a thread of how I look best with a motor in my arms

One of the guys at the shop said awww, grab it with ONE hand, big shot!...so. okay! gimmeee my beer!

My brother, the owner of this S&S 113 told me if I drop it, I owe him my whole machine shop...

Tiggin' her up with "supermissile" rod

some of my welds

I got a few touchups to finish with the tig torch, then its on to hand filing the welds to make 'em disappear, and the fit up of gussets. Turns out the tank mount needs levelled, too.

uhhh...as for powder, it'll go cheapy spray satin black for this summer, then a fancy ass paintjob once everything in the economy smooths over. I'm good with that. we just wanna ride.

We worked more on the frame this weekend. Still a little too cold to ride, and I'm not in the mood. Made up some stainless mounts for the sprung seat and welded them on. No camera. long story.

Actually, the frame is still in my shop.... nuthin much done to it in chopperforums sense of work. Just a few gussets, brackets and the like.

We worked on modifying a rear caliper to fit inside the rim, put on some seat mounts, cut them offf, placed fork stops on the frame...

I see springtime coming once more, and this thing will still be furniture. Collecting dust

Not my bike.. I cant force my brother to go very fast on it.
