Clare's HD in Niagara
« on: September 23, 2008, 01:25:06 pm »

I never get to Dealerships very often. Some Dealerships wanna know what year it is, first off. That's how the computer works, by year, then make, then model, then colour...They give me that "get f*ck outta here" look when i start sing that Johnny Cash song, "she's a fifty eight, fifty nine, sixty, sixty one, sixty two...

They have no time for custom blends.

I've been to Clare's in Niagara, and they seem to be quite willing to handle it, even though it can be extra time for the parts dude. They even give me a little off list price..

This summer, I put a new wheel on Blossom. A billet hubbed eighty spoke 18 x 140 front.
When I did, it shook like dog shittin' razorblades. A quick phonecall to one dealer came back with a reply" hmm... 1/2 hour labour:  $44.00" to balance the front wheel if i brought it in.

Clare's wanted 15 - 20 bucks. I was off to their place.
The wheel didn't ride much better, so after a few weeks, I returned to the store, and they re-mounted it on the balance machine, showing perfect balance.
I told the mechanic that I had a fine balance with the old Harley 16 incher, and the only thing that was different was the front wheel. It had to be that...He mentioned some Metzelers were bad, it may be the tire shaking...but he decided to remove the weights, and try again, subbing three for the original two. I went back to the service counter to pay, but the manager was not charging me. i flipped the guy ten bucks for his pizza fund, and we were both happy.
I know when the time comes for a real Harley, where I'll be buying it. Clare's has won me by not gouging me, even though I offered to pay, and it's not like I've spent five thousand dollars on chrome accesories there, like they owed me a favour.

these are the type places we need to know about.. its all about the bikes & the people who ride them.. alot of dealerships forget that.. their main interest isnt service, but instead what they can sell you on this visit .. often it all comes down to that one or two guys that work in a dealership, that have the passion & thats what makes it all right..
