If LA DAVE owns the Grandfather of the DANA I guess this would be the Great Grandfather. My 1975 FXE.

Nice...
Only reason I say "Grand-daddy" to the Dyna, is the FXR and the Dyna are "rubber-glides". Your's is still a solid mount on the engine/trans...

Sweet bike!

Thanks, I too like that era. I'm constantly screwing around with her gear ratios. she is sitting at 98ci and has ample HP and torque. If I could afford a Baker 6 in a 4 she'd have one.

yeah , i understand.. i'd love to have even a 5 in a 4 from baker .. a kicker is a must for me on any shovel.. i've found on a shovel.. a 6 speed just isnt what you would think.. its just a tad much.. maybe with the extra cubes it would blend better though..

I'm thinking so, I've played around with the final drive ratios and she seem to still crave lower ratios...

Just spent 4 days on that old blue bitch, she leaked like a good 70's Harley should and broke her electrical connection from the switch to the solenoid leaving me holding the wire to the post when I started her, that is,  if I didn't want to kick start her (which I did until I found the busted wire). God I love that bike! I had a great conversation with one of the guys from the Jay Brake vendor setup; they are some truly stand up guys. They squared me away with new front brake pads (which I was in dire need of) and spent some time talking about the advantages of riding older iron (pre computer). anyway, with the new pads she now stops on a dime. If any of that crew happen in here I just want to say thanks for taking care of me. You're aces in my book!

I gotta agree with you on them Jaybrake guys. I called for a rebuild kit for my old jaybrake front master, and the guy that answered the phone KNEW what i needed. See, they list masters in a few different sizes, and without taking it apart, you can tell what diameter it is by removing the handlebar clamp. underneath, there will be a stamped number: 9 if it's 9/16, 5, if it's 5/8, and no stamp if it's 3/4 bore. good stuff, good guys, and almost local for me..just across the river, maybee an hour into NY.

The solenoid is good I just need to solder a new connection onto the wire. I was starting it by holding the wire to the solenoid with one hand and hitting the starter button with the other... Thanks though

will do.. i didnt apply for a dealership , but when i told the people there what i was doing with the mini's , they were very eager to have their products included on them.. they offered a moderate price cut from retail for me, which was nice of them as i asked for & expected nothing from them except to buy their stuff .. the subject of the mini's came up , as the tech guy i was speaking to about part numbers on all their various little parts , thought it odd that i wanted some of the stuff by the piece , & asked what exactly i was doing to need these parts , as most all of them werent commonly need to  service items..

My jaybrake clutch & brake controls are due for a resleeve this winter. They've got around 7 or 8 years of vibration, and hard use, and now do the "flop" from constant pounding. Aluminum holes just will not last forever. I'll sleeve them with nylatron bushings here in the shop, using new stainless pins. Nylatron has molybdenum embedded into it for smooth operation, and doesn't absorb water like regular white nylon.
