i finally got into the oil pump on this ole girl... it looks like i was correct about the keyway breaking.. i'll pull the pump completely apart for inspection before i make any decisions .. if it was me, i'd add a new s&s pump.. but hey.. i gotta do my best if its all useable & the customer chooses to use it..

these were my thoughts too.. it was obvious the old pump have new gears.. or newwer gears.. which tells me a previous owner had it roll snake eyes on him & then tried to patch it up.. i imagine it broke the teethon the gears & probably sheared some keyways.. its recently had a new top end.. but whats not good about that was when i cranked the bike it was spitting oil outa the base gaskets.. seems the PRO mechanic didnt torque or even tighten the cylinders or head gaskets down.. after i immediately killed the motor & did all that it was fine.. but after a few miles the pump wouldnt hold any pressure when the oil got hot.. so here we are..

Yeah, it did turn out nice. Did you guys decide to do anything else with the paint? Or did it just stay "basic black"?
