Not exactly a "Dyna"
« on: September 27, 2008, 11:02:22 am »

Grandaddy to the "Dyna" and since this is as close as I can git to it, figured I'd drop it in here...

Here's a shot of my 1987 FXR (FXRS-SP to be exact)

Made a few mods to it since I got it several years ago. Ran it like it is with drag bars for years. Never had much interest in apes. But, I got a bug up my ass earlier this year for some changes and this is the result.

Now, I can't imagine why I didn't go with apes a long time ago. Much more comfortable (for me) with the apes. I ran all the wires inside the bars and have a hard-line from the master cylinder to just below the top tree for the front brakes.

I had the chance of ownership of a sweet fxr once, but decided against it. Another poor decision based on the fact that they are DIFFERENT!

Love mine. Wouldn't give it up...

I had the chance to get a new bike (brand new) summer of 2007...

But, it would've meant that I had to give up my FXR...

Yeah, they're a great bike. Guess that's why I've put up with the shit mine has given me the last couple of years...

Busted an exhaust valve about a year ago. Got it out of the shop, with a completely rebuilt engine on Nov. 7, 2007...

Sept. 7, 2008, I snapped the end off the pinion shaft.  :o

The crank hadn't been rebuilt. No warranty. Not exactly sure what it will end up costing. But, it was runnin' yesterday afternoon!! Couple oil leaks to fix and I'll be ridin' again!! I love that bike...

You're exactly right Dave  ;D  Its mine! LOL! No payments either!!
Well, I got it back yesterday! Runs great too! Spent some time out with it this mornin'. But, I wasn't too far from home when it started rainin'...

T-shirt and 501's don't make for very good rain gear...LOL
