PERSISTANCE PAID OFF
« on: January 02, 2012, 05:37:07 pm »

havent seen shit for weeks.. a few stragglin' does here & there & a few small bucks.. but this mornin' someone opened the gate.. i saw 2 nice bucks before 7:30 a.m. one i let walk & then was regretting it.. then i saw another good shooter, but i couldnt get a shot.. as i was about ready to move into the woods & off the river, as all the deer had been skirting the tree line.. a big 10 point comes trottin' across the river.. 1 shot dropped him in his tracks .. you gotta bear in mind the comite river is more like a creek.. usually from ankle to knee deep .. so i walked out into the water & drug his big ass to the bank , went & got the atv & winched his ass up the bank , then up in a tree & lashed him off , rolled up the winch cable & back under him & let him down on the bike.. once i got him home i washed him off , so as to not disrespect him.. & said my tsalagi prayer of thanks over him for giving me his life .. most peckerwoods & other garden variety rednecks think i'm nuts , but hey .. a man believes what he believes.. on that note , pics. coming later today.. right now i gotta get to skinnin'..

AWESOME!!  Nice kill shot, Dave.  And yes, I do understand the respect given for its life.  I also thank God for the resource and his recognition for the respect I give all he bestows upon me in my quests in return.

Hey... ya got any antler tips and button nubs ya will'n to get rid of?  I got a couple knife designs I been work'n on I need handles for when they're done.

Thanks Dave... I'll get back to you on the size(s) I'm interested in.  Nothing big for the few small ones i got in mind, mainly the curved tips I'm look'n for.  If ya got a thick curved button/stump combo I'd consider that, too, for a bowie class moose processor I designed I'm die'n to put to steel.  It's part cleaver, Ulu, skinner and throw'n knife all wrapped into one.
