Getting Laid off
« on: December 04, 2011, 12:15:30 pm »

At my age of 65, I got myself a part time job to make a few extra pennies, lol,
So I was hired by this company that buys and sells medical Equipment, and he needed a painter. So I got the job, and now he bought a spraybooth[auto type] and wanted me to piut it together and I did, and now is getting wired up.
He has no air compressor, well he does a 2 hp little thing, lol, won't do it to maintain 40 psi at the gun. And plans not to get one, he's the boss.
And to top it off he is not putting an exhaust  system to blow the paint and all to the outside, He tells me we don't need it Going to blow the stuff right into the shop, glad I wear a mask[resoirator] felel sorry for the other fellows in the warehouse,
Anyhow, I was told by a fellow worker, that once I get the system all up and working fine, that he is going to let me go, that sucks.
It really sucks for my boss to do that to me, regardless of my age, but I have a surprise for him too, right about Christmas Eve,
I know alot of friends that work for EPA and OSHA, so if I get the axe, well he will too, lol.
I have always been a believer in, if a  person can do his job and is qualified for it, then let the person work, regardless of his or her age.
Well, just wanted to let off a little steam, I feel a little better now, but I will survive again, grinn, guess it is time to go build something.
Take care,

Spray something in the Booth and before you are finished hit the ground acting like you can't breath. Workman comp. And then get OSHA involved.

Well yesterday the booth was complete and I was pulled into the boss's office so he could tell me that he didn't need my services any more and I was to leave the premises right away, [fricking duck].

So I went and got my tools and such and autographed the booth. Then I left and made 1 phone call to a friend that works for the EPA and got a call back from him that it'd be taken care of and he also called his friend [top dog] at OSHA, grinn.

Well I got word a few moments ago, that they showed up in force, 12 of them in black unmarked cars and put a padlock on the doors before the boss and all got to work. They shut him down and he is facing a $50,000.00 fine [which is non refunded] and they are in the process of taking pics of all the violations and the spray booth too, lolll

My ex boss had called me and asked me what I had done and I told him that payback is a mother fucker and that all Vets stick together. He asked me what I meant by that and I told him that My friend and his friend for OSHA were in Nam with me for 2 tours and we vowed to help each other out if we needed it. So it is what it is, lollll

The Boss had no regards for your well being while firing you. You are simply reacting to him the same way he treated you, with no regards to his well being. I suppose the next time he decides to be a dick he'll think back to this point in time and possibly may reconsider his actions.

As far as I can see, YOU did the right thing.
You should have no regrets, qualms or anything else.
Pisssssss on him, nail him to the fucking wall.
Many a time a supervisor has told me at a lay off, "I went to the wall for ya and it didn't do any good."
And me setting their knowing that he was lieing through his fucking teath.

Ohh I have no problem with what was done to him, he needed a sparkle in his life, like a shinny star on the tree, grinn.
My  friends told me they have found a bunch of other stuff that he was doing wrong in his place, Heck I didn't know about them, so Now he is in real deep cow putt, lol.
So it will be a long way for him to recover if he even does,
I like to serve it on a cold large plate, with a little piece of parsley , grinn.

Nahhh, I am told that I am overqualified[too old], so I will continue to build trikes and try to sell them for a decent price.
Got a V8 trike to build soon and a mid engine trike too, that will keep me busy for a bit.

Dayum, CW1.... my heart goes out to you on this.  I, too, got the axe and it was because my age (I'm sure of it).  Those "partners" of mine (so called) grouped together and decided I was the most expensive employee they had and them fuckwads cut my throat from behind.  I turned on them, too... in my own way.  Over the course of 6 months I took every job I could from them (while working for their competitor) and caused them more financial grief than they did with cut'n me loose.  It caused them so much financial burden two of their other long term employees walked out.... no notice.  With me being gone, the only other two employees with background and experience to do the work professionally, it took the core of their work force out from under them and now they are floundering attempting to get others retrained (it'll take a year at least, LOL.)  Indeed, payback is a bitch........ best served cold... or handed to them as a flame'n plate of shit like you did.  RIGHT ON BRUTHA!!.  ;D 8)  Word of advice, though... don't reveal your hand to anyone that crosses ya.  Divorce yourself from the fucker and never acknowledge ANYTHING you have in the works.  Fuckers that'll use you will also "USE" you to relieve their pain.  There ain't no goin back.  That fuckwad made his bed.  His own employees (those that are left) will dog pile on him because of the example you left.

Cheers, Bro! 8)

Puzzled,
To answer your question, Yes I can, I have on the average 8-10 trikes per year to build, and never seem to run out of 'em to build, just wanted something to do as part time job[wanted to get away form the trike building], but guess I will keep building trikes, at my age of 65 getting tired, but I will keep going on as a trike builder.
I always build myself one and then someone wants to buy it,lol, So I get to ride the trikes I build for the test ride and in a sence to me , it was mine to ride for a bit, lolll

If you can earn a comfortable living working for yourself than that is a no brainer. Now if health insurance or retirement plans are needed than working for someone is the way to go. At 65 years old medical coverage is key.

CW,I really hope your able to pull it off on the mid-engine trike.....I really think you can sell some of them.....or offer up rolling frames.
Remember that blue trike....looked like a mini 'vette from the back end?

I'll bet if you build one very similar to this one....but with a slightly higher seat height....You'll generate LOTS of interest in it!!!! :D 8)

I am already retired and get my little SS check and have the best insurance coverage I can have[wife's retirement plan and such][she is retired too from 3M] so as long as my health holds up, I;ll be okay .

Bibs, I am sure I can build one similar to it, just finding the right trike frame to please the public is going to be the problem, the general public, don't have a clue as to what they want, lol.  But I will see what happens,
