The bike needs a Belly Pan at bare minimum to add some color to the bottom of the bike. I was all hell bent for full fairings than I stopped and thought that it would look to Japanese Sport Bike like (not that that is a bad thing).

Looks good. What kind of exhaust system is available for that model? A titanium set with the heat colored spots would look good IMHO.

There are a handful of exhaust sytems available currently. Most of them are of the straight through variety intended for more of a drag race bike. There are a few systems from overseas that appear to be decent for all around riding however they come with a price tag. To date the stock is the best all around performing exhaust but it lacks sond and looks!

The Barkers exhaust weighed in at 6 pounds complete with brackets and hardware. The stock exhaust weighed in at 20 pounds complete. This makes the Barkers 14 pounds lighter than the stock exhaust.

I received my call at 11 to remote tune the bike. After checking everything out Dave found that I still had an old flash in my bike (two flashes behind). Now I was aware of this as my bike hasn't been to a dealership for any work since I purchased it. I have had the OSB tune in it since early on so the updates did not interest me, until now.

After hanging up with Dave I called Brian at Schoch's to see when I could get the bike flashed, "Bring it down now". I geared up and shot over before anyone changed their mind. Upon arrival I BS'D with Brian a while than disappeared to parts for some more BS'ing. By the time I left the parts department my bike was already done! Props to Brian and Schoch's.

My initial thought on the flash.... the bike revs much faster than it previously did. Second gear skips the tire across the pavement with ease.  I can't speak for power gains or losses but dam this thing boogies with the 062 flash.

So I have an email into Dave to try and schedule a second attempt at getting the Fuelsolutions map installed.

On a side note Brian went ahead and ordered the updated clutch assembly for me as I had a line down the cover on mine after yesterdays ride. June 9th is the release date. All Done!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All Done!

I only hot lapped down to the highway than to the next exit. There was way to much traffic to see what it had on the top end.

Initial thoughts. I thought my bike was relatively smooth previously.....not even close in comparison. The low speed driveability is very smooth now. The overall power is vey linear as where it use to feel like it was kicking in at a certain RPM. I look forward to getting some miles on this tune. The decel popping is gone. The overall sound of the bike is quieter and I didn't have my ear plugs in. (Time to open up the Barkers!).

I'm very pleased thus far.

I have had the Fuel Solutions/Barkers flash for a few weeks now however I just haven't had any time to get on the bike for a extended period of time.

Until today...

Up until today my only riding was a hot lap around town and I did nothing more than click a gear or two along the way. The first opportunity I got to open the bike up was a short straight away coming off of a left hand stop light. I jumped on the throttle and the bike came right up. Short shifted to second and up it came again. Since owning the bike I've never experienced the front end skipping along the ground like this. Yes the bike would come up when it got up in the RPM's however it does it much sooner now. Enough so that I WILL be ordering a steering stabilizer to aide with the light front end under acceleration.

The bike and the flashes....

From shortly after new I have had the OSB tune in my bike. Simply because there wasn't a whole lot available when these bikes were released. I have never had my bike flashed until recently as I had the OSB tune in it. I needed the latest flash in my bike in order to load the Fuel Solutions/Barkers tune. Brian at Schoch's HD hooked me up within minutes of my phone call to him. Riding home on the latest flash was very similar to my OSB tune. My own personal opinion is that they are very close. I have no regrets purchasing the OSB tune as I had it a year ago which gave me a year of trouble free riding, money well spent IMO.

The Fuel Solutions/Barkers tune....

The bike does not hiccup, burp or fart,it is perfect. There is no decel popping and engine braking is not lost. The tune adds power across the entire power band. Enough so that at times you tend to under estimate how fast you are actually moving along. The bike definitely has more power now compared to the previous flashes. Sure there may be a few horse power to be gained from an actual dyno tune or data logging session of my bike however this Fuel Solutions/Barkers tune has to be dam close.

I was sitting there today with a fellow forum member eating lunch and we wear talking about our bikes (of course!). I had said to him that I am 100% happy with the way the bike is currently running. I previously had bitched about the lack of power and I can honestly say that is not the case now.

A big thanks to Dris and Dave.

The preload adjusters I ordered finally showed up. They were not the style I was after however after installing them I'm happy with them. They are not obtrusive like a larger set may have been.

The bars, air bottle clamp, shift light (Dyna Shift Minder) and Engine Kill Module. Air over electric shifter has to be picked up still.

For whatever reason I was sent an 18" strut! That would not work as it is entirely way to long and has the wrong ends on top of that. I grabbed a piece of stainless and threaded both ends (left and right hand threads). Added a notch in the middle for a 1/2" wrench. This will allow me to adjust the strut without having to remove it from the bike.

For the top and bottom of the strut I used rod ends. Because of this I had to make up the extra space between the shock mount up top.

The left side bottom bar as you could see made contact with the swing arm "as is".

I machined a couple of spacers for the top strut mount and for the left lower wheelie bar mounting point.

The front end limiting straps did not show up so I don't have the bars adjusted exactly where I want them yet. This is close. My target measurement will be 1 1/2" with the font end straped down. As they are now, they work. I tried a few soft 3-4k launches and the bike just wanted to squirt out from under me. I got tire shake a few time as I wasn't heating up the tire at all.

Shock length compared to strut length.

I may cut my DHM sliders down so they mount directly to the wheelie bar mounts. This would save on the changeover time.

The strap is here as well as a few pieces for the air shifter along with the Pingel strut. I picked up my powder coated bars Tuesday and started assembling them. I'll work on getting them on the bike this week as well as getting the bike ready to make a pass down the track.

I have the bars on and the front end strapped....and it works. It has been said that living in my area you can Drag Race everyday but Monday if your willing to travel and that is true. I made it to the track for some test runs.

Let me start by saying I'm no pro on a bike nor in car however I have a lot more experience in the car and zero on the bike. I am rusty for sure! I made 10 passes on the bike and honestly could have made more, I was hot in my leathers. I went to the track solo so I have no pics but I do have a stack of time slips.

The numbers and some info.

1st pass, 2nd slowest of the night. Front end strapped a little to tight for my liking. Left at 6k or close. With no one watching I could not tell what the bike was doing so I just had fun! Stock street tire pressure.
60' 1.795
330 4.684
1/8 7.082
MPH 100.94
1000 9.186
1/4 11.001
MPH 124.81

Best pass of the night. Loosened strap, air the tire down some, launched at 8K.
60' 1.689
330 4.544
1/8 6.902
MPH 102.60
1000 8.941
1/4 10.716
MPH 122.22

Best 1/8 MPH 105.55
1/4 10.718
MPH 125.79

Best 60' and MPH
60' 1.676
1/4 10.777
MPH 133.09

The numbers tell me I left A LOT on the track. Between hitting the limiter more times than not and clutch shifting tells me I need to get the air shifter installed! My best MPH tells me I should be a hi 9. I definitely need to leave harder. I can't tell if I'm spinning or riding the clutch. I'll take my buddy John with me to help me get a idea what is going on.

The light is on the left side of the fairing. During mockup it fit fine, during final installation it is placing a little pressure on the fairing. I'm going to look and see if I can flip the light and still use the same mounting holes. If not I'll just lower it a 1/4". The light is bright for sure!

Made it to the track again on Friday. The humidity was hi to say the least. It is tough burning water over air! I did not best my ET however I was very close to my PB and my MPH picked up. I'm still foot shifting and still grabbing the clutch running down the track, hard habit to break. I ran my buddy on a 06 GSXR 1000 11 times! I'm 10-1. :D
We both were launching at 8k plus. If I hesitated at all he was all over me with that 1000. He regularly "treed" me on the Pro tree but I'd make it up within 60' and hold the lead from there on out. Needless to say we had a blast as there was hardly anyone at the track so it was like a $25 private track rental.

Best run of the night.

I worked on the bike a little last night. I spent some time mounting the piston for the air shifter. Currently there isn't an off the shelf mounting kit for these bikes. What I came up with I feel should work just fine, we'll see.

I made a paper template first than transfered it over to my piece of 1/2" aluminum. If I had something thinner here I probably would have used that instead as 1/2" is overkill.

Next up was cutting the aluminum. I started with my horizontal band saw just to get a smaller work piece.
