The trans mount needed a different set of holes to accommodate the GM trans. I had no desire to run over to the shop and chuck this thing up in the mill so out came the torch and grinder. If I have to pull it out for any reason I'll clean it up on the mill.

Header clearance or there lack of....

The headers actually cleared the body nice until I decided to move the motor back! I'll have to do some "clearancing" to insure nothing hits. From what I can see the motor has to be rotated slightly. This may give me the clearance needed. I can't do this until I correct the driveshatt loop. A good portion of the bell housing had to come out to allow the header to bolt up to the heads. This sucked!.

For now this will be my exhaust, 3 1/2" Dynomax collector bullets and a pair of turndowns. Eventually a power chamber or an X pipe will be added. A pair of turndowns will go on as soon as I figure out how to attach them.

I started pulling the old Nitrous lines out. I didn't realize how much wiring and lines is in the car and how inconsistent I was at running it. See what working on bike has tought me.......:D

I spent some time this afternoon "putzing" around with the car. The first thing I worked on was the drive shaft loop.

Next up was the steering shaft. At first I was thinking about using heat and dimping the header. After some more thinking it was as easy as shorten the allen bolts in the set screw assembly.

I pulled some more of the lines out of the car. I can't get over how much braided line is in this car. While in the interior pulling lines out I bolted the drivers seat back in. I'm going to hold off on the passengers seat as I intend to run my wiring to that side.

Picked up some more parts to help me keep me moving. I had to change the shifter as I had one for a C-4 and I needed one for a Power Glide. I went with another Hurst Quarter Stick just so I'd have additional parts if needed. The wires are Moroso Ultra 40's. They claim to be better than the Moroso 11MM I currently run. The breathers are Moroso clamp on as NHRA requires a positive mount breather. I hope they work. I decided to change the ignition in the car to a MSD 7 Digital Programmable Plus. It has far more feature than I need or I'll use. I wanted it for the trigger wire and multi step limiter. In theory I should be able to set a burnout limit, staging limit and a high RPM limit. The trigger wire should be able to connect to my trans brake. When the brake is released the Nitrous will be activated.

I installed the shifter so that is one more thing to check off of the list. I have the trans blanket that still needs to go on. That will be a treat!

I decided to tackle the wiring next. This in itself was going to be a daunting task as my previous wiring was spaghetti mended as I went along. Not any more.

This is two out of the three boxes that I pulled from the car. All three boxes will be replaced by one MSD 7 Programmable Digital Plus.

This is initially where I was mounting the MSD 7.

I had a slight change of plans when my bud John brought it to my attention that I won't have any heat as my motor has zero provisions for heater hoses. So I pulled the heater box assembly out.

The plug wires were pretty straight forward, add a little, subtract a little and crimp. I did have to change the coil to some mammoth MSD unit in order to support the MSD 7 ignition box.

Well the day finally came, I fired it up, she's alive! :D

I'll pick up my fuel tomorrow, Q116 VP. I purchased a drum of it as that should get me to the end of the season. The stuff in the car is seven years old and was only 112 when it went in the car. I only fire the car for test purposes. Once the good fuel is in it I'll get the MSD 7 programmed as well as the tach. From there I have some basic wiring to finish up, the rear suspension change, bolt the interior back in and test it to see if everything works.

My bud Chad stopped by today and buffed down to the body line on the car. I have to wash the bottom portion and than he'll buff the rest. It doesn't look to bad for sitting seven years and being a 17 year old car.

very nice.. i'd have added a small aftermarket heater assembly though.. & one of the hot rod style a/c units they use on the old 20's to 50's cars.. the a/c 's have a switch that shuts the a/c down when you peg the throttle.. i'd be driving that thing on the street too.. but hell i aint got no sense when it comes to that stuff..  ;D ;D you've done a great job.. i really like what you have there..
