since they's only a hand full of trike enthusiasts on this here site....I gotta share sumthin me and CW bin talkin about(you too Fat Mike)

CW and I is busy figger'n the details on a new fangled contraption that WILL allow my sorry ass to mounts a Pan/early shovel on the ass end of a VW tranny.....................Mike and I jaw boned about this too...the time for action is now....and we be doin it!!!!
Um sending CW a set of cases with a spline shaft....or possibly the whole crank with it....to use for mock up ta make us up an adaptor complete with inboard support to hold the motor Proper on the adaptor plate.

The reason for this lenghty exercise is Simply this:
Them old harley motors(36-69) are titled by the numbers on the lefthand case!!!!
No bullshit involved through DMV on gettin Paper!!!......she still be considered a Harley......with just them motor cases!!!!!
Plus the fact it would be totally COOL to have something that unique!!!
CW...take this ball and run Forrest....ruuuun!!!!!!
Sell the hell out of these adaptors...you'll get this worked out no time soon!!!

Like I tol' yas before, ya will need plenty of air to the motor and a good oil cooler.

Mike, I hear ya on what you are saying, will have to work it all in as we go, good oil cooler with a thero fan would work for oil cooler, and direct air to it using shields directing the air to the motor.

I have also heard of bearing failure on the pulley side of the motor that goes into the pilot shaft..

Might have been some mis-alignment issue.
But the "heat factor" is the big thing.
Fans would take care of a lot of heat problems, going down the road it'll take care of itself. If shielded right for air flow.

Go all up and down on this thread 'bout how a fella took a twin cam and mounted it to a VW trans axel....you'll see several pictures of the adaptor.
it's very similar to what me and CW want to do

MIKE....we could also use a parade fan right up agin the fins on the left side of the motor!!

Just remember that a HD motor does not have a thrust bearing on the motor.
When ya engage the clutch pack all the thrust goes against the crank and trys to push the whole lower end out the other side.

That was the "big" thing that I remember now!!

I have seen a lot of these around and no problems with the bearing or other, just the heat problem and they installed a fan above the motor and seemed to work.

Yeah Mike....that makes sense...mebe it's best NOT to try and re-invent the wheel.....I spent days on-line trying to find out more about this here Idear,to no avail.
I got a beautiful trike....I'll stay with it and simply refine it as time goes on instead of throwin $$ at sumthin that is Flawed from the start.

Nooooo, don't give up yet.

A full-auto VW tranney would take care of most of the problem.
A thrust bearing on the adapter plate would sure do it for a stick shift.
What I should have said is, that the "stock" HD motor isn't made to take a sideways thrust (as in pushing in the clutch) against the crank.

Build it and dey' will cum.

Got my blood test back today..aint lookin' too good right now. Have gone anemic again, either get a shot for my kidneys or a blood insfusion Monday. Booooooo

Oh, I'll be fine in a few...bad part is the doc's let ya get so low before they will do anything...
The shots are about $3,000 each and a transfusion is more..been lasting for about 6 months before I start having problems. Plays Hell with my kidneys.
Sooooooo, it's up to them..

Hey, when I had my by-pass on my leg...another 1\4" more and I'd come home a woman..DAT' was scarrrrey.
