Some things to consider before posting in the for sale section.
« on: September 21, 2008, 01:41:24 pm »

I'm not a fan of seeing a for sale ad in a forum with a link to a Ebay auction. Linking me to your auction to bid on your item blows. Now if you want to offer it to the forum members at a set price and you are using the Ebay link to show the item and a description that is fine. Be prepared to have to end the auction should a forum member decide to purchase it. This may be a problem if there is a bid on the item.

Linking to third party stuff for sale is different. It isn't yours or a forum members however you think the members may be interested in it. 3rd party for sale!

With that said I generally run a Ebay link in my sig to ongoing listings I have. I sell the same items on the forums (generally for a few pennies less). I have multiple of each item so I CAN AND WILL sell it outside of Ebay. ALL of my listings are a set price, no bidding.

Next don't be so quick to jump on a guy publicly if you didn't get your item as soon as you typed in your last key stroke. Shipping takes time, boxing stuff up and physically getting to the shipping hub takes time, be patient. If you need it yesterday you should have purchased it a week ago! Please try and resolve this stuff privately first. Bashing a member is never a good thing. If all avenues have been taken and you have had no luck than post your dealings if you feel you need to.

Just because you or you buddy did this or that and got away with it doesn't always make it right. What I'm getting at is numbers and paperwork and or the lack of. Just be careful what you post, use your head. Most of you that have been around know what is required to make a vehicle legal in your area. For the new guy, maybe educate him in a PM or something so they don't get jammed up.
