Is there any way to check what post have been made since your last visit? ... If not, could there be?

Yes there is. On the bottom of the home page under Forum Stats, the bottom line says "View the most recent posts on the forum". Clicking on that will bring up all of the most recent posts in order. I noticed there is also a "NEW" logo next to any post/thread that hasn't been viewed by the member.
