My brother's bike
« on: September 22, 2008, 01:13:01 am »

Butch is a brother related through beer, babes & bikes. Here's some we're doin' on his ride.
He has keys to my shop, so he's free to come in and do his thing. He has been for years. He's very talented, but works many hours, therefore not always to build to a "schedule"
Risers were made from stainless. Turned , polished, and TIG welded with high grade threaded rod in the middle holding it all together.
The second shot is of the handlebars. These were slammed together from some 3/4 dia stainless pipe I got out of a dead heat exchanger. Most tubes were blistered, pitted or corroded, but we managed to cut enuf out to make some bars that polished up nicely. The ends were turned to fit Arlen ness controls.

thats a damn nice set up.. machining was something i never got into, though i surely should have.. i can dream up shit though & theres plenty of talented guys that can cut the things i dream up for me.. jaxon & chad pearson have truly been great , as has a fella name cecil .. met him on e-bay & he started cutting my threaded bungs & spacers for me, but now i cant locate him.. shame, he was a great fella i hope he surfaces.. looks like basil may be the new long distance machinist if he's up for it.. i'd just as soon send the cash to a member anyway..

Here's the front springer rocker trials, the flop on the bike is pretty bad. So after scoring some old stainless from the scrap yard (the magnets dont pick up stainless). The piece was cut on the shape of a toilet seat so the Sugarbear style 'arched rockers' were already pre formed. This pictured rocker is trial one. it took a substantial amount of flop out but not completely. Round two is underway.

I've got a friend that ha a trike with the rockers that have no bushings, (metal to metal) wines about the frontend shake.  I've told him time and time again, that was the reason for the shake.. He won't believe me.

How much clearance do you have between the rocker bolt and the bushing????
