well i've made minimal progress.. lifes issues keep interferring.. i got the tranny.. its a 6 speed, with a kicker.. the 6 speed with the kicker that rev-tech sells under their name isnt really a rev-tech product.. the regular six speed is, but the one with the kicker is made by " the driveline company " , & rev-tech / cci has gotten the rights to sell them under their name.. so heres what i found upon minor disection.. i had a top cover sent for powder & checked all the specs. & adjustment while the cover was off.. good thing because the 3rd. gear adj. was off some.. i pulled the kicker cover & was afraid of what i'd find for kicker function, as most kickers on 5 & six speeds are cheesey, except one sold by cci for 5 speeds, which wont work on a six anyway.. to my surprise , this thing had a real, true kicker set up , unlike some kicker kits & it was a  functional kicker.. it has a 1 piece mainshaft , unlike some others kits.. & it wasnt an add on that attaches to the existing parts.. it was truly made to have a kicker.. the set up was more than sturdily built .. i gutted the kick cover for powder coating & found it was a very heavy well made part.. thus far without actually running it yet , i'd have to highly recomend it from what i can see.. clearance on pipes shouldnt be a prob. with most exhaust.. they allowed well for clearance.. the cases was polished, & i couldnt get a natural finish case til mid year, so i blue taped things off & took scotch-brite & chrome polish to the case to dull its finish.. it came out great .. i'm glad it was polished now..the finished look was better than i could imagine.. i'm getting pics. , but my home pc is broke down.. i'll be loading my camera soft ware into my laptop though, so i'll try to get the pics. posted soon.. i ordered the dress up cap nut kits for the tranny covers & the plug for the nuetral switch.. so i'll have some progress soon..i have a nickel plated 630 o-ring chain & the pbi 24 tooth 3/4 in. off set tranny sprocket all ready to go ..

got progress made.. a few woes, but nothing i couldnt handle.. i took pics. so they are coming .. the powdered covers looked great with the cap nut dress up kits.. the sprocket wasnt enough offset so, i got a 1 in. offset sprocket coming & i gotta order a longer clutch cable.. i had the cable i was planning on using have the threads on the hollow bolt on the cable snap off in the kicker cover & YES .. i did chase the threads with a tap after it was powdered even though they looked very clean.. after much hoopla i got it drilled & all the shit cleaned out with no thread or cover damage.. it was one of those things that you know what you gotta do, but damn well dont want to fuck up on.. once the new sprocket gets here i can loose assemble the chain.. the 630  o-ring chain has to have enough clearance.. its much wider thasn a 530 chain.. but it looks good in its nickel finish & this one has the highest tensile strength available.. after using one on the chopper there was no doubt on the chain for this bike.. after this is all wrapped up tight it time to quit fuckin' around & get it painted.. more on the build soon..

i wanted the covers black.. i had a spare polished top cvr.. but the kicker cover off the tranny had to be powdered.. i had to use scotch brite to dull the polished finish on the tranny..

heres the top cover & the sprocket on it..

the tranny then went into the chassis on a vulcan eng. tranny plate..

i couldnt resist a look at the tech cycle motor plate that was part of the drive set up i got from bibs.. i'm really proud of the drive..

the chainguard that i got from v-twin via puzzled.. it was black already, but the swing arm on this chassis had tabs that matched the 85 -86 early wide glide models..so i had to cut it down , reweld a few things & re powder it.. the end result was great..

one item i forgot to mention.. the kick cover bolt holes were inset further than a 5 speed side cover.. so my cap nut kit wouldnt jive.. the studs were too short & the wrench head hit before it was tight.. so with the spacers made by sylant bill & a standing offer from redintn .. bill sent me these spacers cut the the specs. i provided.. they are cut from surgical stainless.. & did the trick..not a good pic. but you can see the results..

of course other things transpired.. i changed to a different shape 3.5 in. headlight & finished bolting all the tins down when they came back from powder.. i used plain fat-boy trim pieces on the sides..

thanks woody.. one thing i'm noticing & liking alot is that this chassis has clearance allowances for all the major stuff.. its not all crammed together.. i like that..

Awesome paint work. Your painter really knows his stuff!

On another topic, tell us what the hell is going on in "Bunghole" with this oil spill we are watching on TV.

It looks devastating to anyone involved. We can only hope it is capped SOON.

They are talking about BP going bankrupt from this mess...

thanks brother.. pygmy is a very skilled painter .. typically Wolf has been painting my bikes.. but he has had alot on his plate & i didnt want to ask him to do it.. i know he would have , but he needs some air.. i did get him to take marks stuff for his iron head.. & he's been to busy to start on it yet.. the rear fender & lite are now on the bike.. i got all the bolt heads shaved & buffed flat yesterday & loctited & tightened everything down.. i got a few bolts left to lock down & the ass end is complete.. i noticed the rear tire wasnt centered under the fender exactly to my liking.. so a few wheel spacers being rotated fixed that problem.. the bike is really looking nice.. i'm more than happy with it.. i have 2 very nice bikes.. never in my life have i been able to afford such luxuries.. with all the overtime at the plant the last few yrs, i have averaged over 90k a yrs. plus what i make in the shop.. i'm also fortunate to have a wife that doesnt complain about my spending habits.. its still hard to accept having this type good fortune , coming from a poor back ground.. in light of the economy of late i feel totally lucky.. i have always worked hard my entire life & maybe it finally is paying off ..
