Here we go again...
« on: September 14, 2009, 04:20:27 pm »

As you know I write this thing about trikes. The one in the "Backyard Built" thread is sort of on hold due to a divorce...

Which leaves me needing a trike project to blabber on about.

So, using the drivline out of a Reliant Robin, with it's mighty 750cc water cooled in line four, gnat crushing four speed manual tranny, and not entirely unattractive third member with it's all diff housing I present the lates pile of shit in mock up form...

I hope not for your sake...  :)

Vile things, but they've got some curiously horny mechanicals. The motor and box is stunningly light, I can lift them as a unit, and I have to walk with a stick. The axle has a cast ally center section and steel tubes, sort of looks vaguely like a mini Quick Change diff.

Pretty reliable, though you get the odd problems with head gaskets.

Getting the motor out where the air can get round it should help.

Done stuff to this.

Got a fairly comprehensive 3D model which should give me all the bending information and so on I need. Used it to work out the amount of tube I need, getting that priced up.

In the real world I shortened the drive shaft to suit what I've drawn.

Drew it all in Google SketchUp, and it looks something like this...

That's not the model, just a bunch of jpegs slides of it stitched together, but it gives you the idea.  ;D
