SLAP SHIFTER
« on: October 30, 2011, 12:00:10 am »

Well...................yeah,I know...deep subject ;D
Ah bin thinkin(smoke cumin outta my ears)'bout a jockey shift/wid foot clutch of course.
Not so much for the cool factor but mainly this old man got him some issues(besides mental)with the typical bar mounted clutch perch and the heavy duty springs I use on my clutch pack.
I gotta use shimmed springs, plus the fact the clutch hooks up like a Sumbitch......can break the Tars loose with out TOO much effort with that 106!!
I bet I could make up a real slick set-up....watchas think?

Shouldn't be a biggie.
Look kinda neet with a CNC master and a CNC slave setup for da clutch.
BIG ol" shift stick wit' a chromey skull wit' dem' red beedie eyes on da end of it.

I'd jus make up a short cable actuated by a foot pedal Mike.
Easy Peasy....japaneezee!!! ;D
The shifter arm I could mount off the top motor mount....or come up from the bottom of the frame...aint no thing and I could cum up with sum kinda pistol grip thingie ta handle the shift'n. 8)

Hell all I did is use a chain, and see Puzzled for a Brass skull for that shifter.

Yall know by now that I got a bit rambunctious with that thing...LOL
I havent as yet made a decision on a slap shifter....easy enuff ta did....but I'll wait till I get 'er back on the road.

The 5 speed,as most harley 5 speeds has a 3.24-1 first gear ratio which means it's easier on the clutch and drive train ta git 'er rollin.
That means I can probobly lose the shims behind the springs in the clutch I had in 'er.....so the clutch wud'nt slip......that should also make it easier to pull the clutch in!!!
It's fun gettin Old and ya body dont do what she used ta cud...the old clutch hand is about half of what she was due to nerve damage.

You can do it, I got faith in ya, put a lwanmower  deck height lever with the hand clutch on it and  away ya go, but don't  forget the naked lady with skulls on it, grinn.
