I've tried to avoid the fram filters for years. I usually run a Wix crome filter on my Harley for about half the cost of what the stealership wants for thiers. I called wix tech and they assured me that the correct filter had a relief valve of only 20 pounds, which is the same for Harley OEM. Normal car relief vlves are much higher, due to the plain bearings, as oposed to Harley roller bearings, and normally low oil pressure in a Harley. Now i guess I'll have to post the part number...soon.

Wix and Carquest is the same filter as well just different labeling. I am a service manager for a big Crane Company and have dealt with all brands down through the years 36 to be exact. we now are using Fleetguard which make a good filter and they too have the chrome replacement filter. I tell people all the time Harley does not have a Filter company nor an Oil company. They put out Bids each year as to who's product they will have packaged and labeled for them.

The last air filter I put on Blossom was a wix. There was twice as many pleats all tightly tucked together than the fram that it replaced, so, on air filters, you can compare them and visually see the better product. Oil filters have to be cut open on the lathe to check out the difference. Fram does an excellent job of marketing their product, and there's LOTS of people that believe they are best, just because of the ads.
I'm sure Fram meets standards, but if there is a better product, I'm using it.

I use K&P engineering oil filter on both Ugly Betty and the Orange Crate.  I clean them every 1500 miles.  For Betty during the breakin every 200 miles.  Has anyone else used them??
