there is a custom builder Jerry Graves, right here down the road a piece...... he likes the deals he gets from them and has not had too many problems it seems...... and guys do actually ride his bikes, they are mostly for show, but they get up and move

Im fixing to find out....I bought an Ultima 100 in December 06...have about 20,000 on it now, no problems...I got an Ultima six speed tranny to run with this primary, If they work like the engine, you can't beat it for the money...It has outside bearing supports that I haven't installed in this pic.  ..

I just used two of the ultima 6spds for the first time. Dirt cheap at $550! They don't come with a pulley or sprocket or clutch pushrod. Think that's how they stay cheap. But was pleasantly supprised. Both shift very smooth seem to be holding up just fine! One is behind a 120" ultima and the other is behind an 88" revtech. I would use them again!!!

Were you able to use the stock clutch pushrod length?

Yes. Same as your typical 5 spd mid 90's.

Thanks, that's one of the last things I got to get, just haven't done it yet and was wondering if it needed to be something other than stock...

i have one of their 3.35 inch primary, i am disappointed in it. two pressure plate failures and am now on my third clutch basket.
motor is nothing out of ordinary, 88" evo 9.25-1 appx comp ratio and stock cam, replacing with a BDL, so far the 6 speed ultima tranny i got for $399 has been flawless so far. would love to buy a few more...lol

I'm still running the Ultima six speed, their 3" open belt drive with the outside support on the rigid custom I built and still have the 100 Ultima in my FXR.  I'd buy them again, no problems so far and it's going on five years.  They all might go all to hell today, but I got to see it happen myself....gator

Bibs, what you running now?  I'm always open for good tested parts.  I get alot of belt drives, BDL, Ultima, and Primo where the folks that have them say they won't stay aligned or keep breaking belts or some other problem.

Not sure why, but I suspect some of them are running the belts to tight and some of the others have an alignment or maintenance problem.  I get them where the splines or hub has worked itself loose and wallowed out.  If they don't have the outside support for the hub and drive pulley and they are running a wide belt, they are just asking for trouble.

But like everything else, it could be the parts and lack of good quality control or materials.

WELP...........I run a tech cycle front pulley, they sent me a spline adaptor ta hold 'er.....I modified the Slut, made 'er into a 1" offset.
With me...there aint no tellin how things end up....all depends on how many 12 packs of Coors lite I got in me.
The clutch basket is a Tech cycle unit as well.........................I use a 24" straight edge ta keep that nice flat line 'tween the back and front.....that How I do alignment.....I'll use a set of Vernier calipers and measure the distance I gotta go for the spacer up front....then find some stock out in the shit hole.....where all the discarded bits end up....kinda like dumpster divin but on a small scale....I'll find some heavy wall tube or sumthin similar and make me up a spacer....it all works out in the end!! 8)

maybe that is the problem, wide 3.35 with no outer bearing support...however i will say the bdl narrow looks very gnarly compared to the ultima...i do like the fact that the bdl is american made though

all the info. i've gathered on ultima drives is bad.. no good news other than a cheap price tag.. the tech cycle set up that bibs got me hooked up with has forever changed my mind on belt drives.. tech cycle, karata, or the 2 in.open bdl with the new style clutch set up are the only ones i'd use.. tech cycle being top of the list.. with tech cycle you truly get what you pay for..

just replaced my 3.35 ultima with a bdl 1.5 enclosed system....was not something i had to do...just was not happy with it. Bdl should hold up fine on my stock evo.
